Lavapots Artistic Process
Each Lavapot is hand thrown in one of Markʻs custom molds and sclupted while still soft.
Lavapots are created from a unique ceramic/concrete blend of quarry sand, cement, ceramic clay, pozzolians, waterproofing fillers, and fibers.
Each piece is then weathered and eroded...
...hand ground to remove sharp edges or burs,...
... and burned to remove exposed fibers.
Next, pieces are glazed with color and a durable finish.
Finally, each Lavapot artworks is examined for quality and prepared for delivery.
Lavapot artworks destined for clients off Big Island are crated, padded, and shipped.
